Wow.
Two years, it says.
Really?
Two years it's taken, for the industry I've worked in for over 20 years to turn itself upside down and inside out.
I'm talking about the TV business. Previously the exclusive domain of the high-tech professional and trained specialist. Now... less so, I'd say.
Anyway, nobody's asking me these days, so onwards we go - back into feature films, from whence I came.

And thus to "LoveBeats", which is actually pretty close to the treatment for a feature film project of the same name, that I'm currently putting together in India, London and other parts Mediterranean. Exciting stuff, but more exciting I think is the way this little book holds together, all by itself.

Like a well-constructed souffle, this story needed just the right touch of lightness to go with its shadows, and just the right touch of irreverence in what would normally be akin to a sacred space.

Curious yet?

You should be. I certainly am led to wonder, every day, as to how someone like me, a die-hard sci-fi and thriller type, could ever write something like a fairy tale.

Yet the story spoke out through me, and here it is.

I'm just following along, as I hope you will - it's a pretty magical stuff.

Enjoy!

There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed his desire to become a great writer.

When asked to define 'great', he said,

"I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!"

He now works for Apple, writing error messages.

Wow!

More than 1600 people requested "Evanescent" on GoodReads, and I made it onto more than 240 to-read lists! And that giveaway's ending this Wednesday! My deepest thanks for all your interest.
Will I do another giveaway soon? Heck yeah!

However, it's full steam ahead at the moment on the final stretch of "Gossamer", my tenth book, so after that's done, most probably.

In the meantime, as you know, reviews are the lifeblood of any author's career, the more the better. So far I've been very lucky to have good reviews, which means someone out there likes what they've read. Which makes this a worthwhile endeavor for me! Thank you and more, please!

To all the guardians of light and form,
to all the gentle folk across time and space
who labor in solitude to perfect their vision,
whether by brush, pen, pencil, chisel or lens,
or voice or instrument, on paper, canvas, plastic,
stone or shadow, light, sound or electron,
to all those with creative soul, mind and vision
who are judged, while they toil, as fools
by those who are far from their peers,
until they are finally done
and their work is called genius
by those very same judges,

I salute you.

That's from the Dedication section of my new novel, "Evanescent", just completed.

Yes, it is something of a ghost story, but really it's more about the awareness of a person involved in the arts. Any person, really. And if one is truly aware, and actively cultivates that awareness, then magic and wonder await.

Anyone a photographer? This one's especially for you!

Mexican food, in a nutshell:
A tortilla is either corn or wheat.
But a corn tortilla folded and filled is a taco,
whereas a filled wheat tortilla is a burrito.
Deep fry a burrito, it's a chimichanga.
Toast a tortilla, it's a tostada.
Roll it, it's an enchillada.
:
Your basic Tex-Mex food groups.
Cheese on top of chicken under guacamole
on top of beans under rice on top of beef.
Word of warning, avoid the jumbo prawns.
It's like Russian Roulette.
One in six will kill you.
